Nottingham's 500m trip is normally a trap 1 track where the tight first bend punishes wide draws, and that holds at A5 grade too - trap 1 is the best box at 22%, with trap 6 the clear washout at under 14%. This looks a middle grade where raw ratings can mislead, so the clock matters more than the model here. Platinum Lark is comfortably the fastest in the field on recorded times and has been running to a different level than these rivals of late, even from a trap that's only moderate rather than dominant. Macash Rose won impressively last time out and carries the leading trainer figure among this field, but does so from the weakest box in the conditions data. Perdey has the plum draw but needs to find more from her recent form to trouble the principals. Keefill Beth arrives off a below-par effort and with little proven form at this course and distance.
The clear fastest dog in the field on recorded times, and by some distance - more than a length quicker than anything else here on the clock. Her recent form backs it up too: consistently among the best-rated in the race with a peak effort well above this level, and she's shown she handles this course and distance strongly. Trap 2 isn't the standout box at this grade but it's far from a poor draw, and a dog travelling at this level of form should cope. The trainer's figures here are modest, but the raw speed and current form are simply a cut above this opposition.
Won impressively last time out and arrives in good heart, with the strongest trainer percentage of anyone in this field. Versatile enough to race handy or come from off the pace. The one obstacle is the draw - trap 6 has been comfortably the weakest box at this grade, and dogs from out wide have struggled to overcome the first bend here. If she can get across cleanly she's the biggest threat to the selection.
Drawn in the best trap in the conditions data and a proven finisher from off the pace, but her recent form has been solid rather than spectacular and she's some way adrift of the selection on the clock. Course and distance experience is a plus. Each-way interest rather than a leading chance.
Form has been up and down, with a big effort a few runs back but nothing since to match it. Races in the middle of the pack rather than committing to one style, which makes her hard to place with confidence. Others in this field have stronger recent claims.
Ran below her best last time out and her recent form and course experience here are limited, with little to suggest she's fully suited to these conditions. Shows plenty of raw early speed on her day but has work to do to match this grade. Others have stronger claims.
Key insight: Nottingham's A5 grade is one of the track's tougher grades for the top-rated dog, and trap 6 has been a genuine drag on chances at just 13.6% - the weakest box at this grade by some distance.
