Lets Get Smashed does not break as fast but he is the quickest on ratings and finishes his races off; Georges Charm and March On Kit are honest yardsticks who make the frame more often than the winner's spot. Swift Step will lead if she traps; the question is whether the draw lets her cross cleanly and whether she lasts home.

What is missing is a finishing kick: one win in nine course-and-distance tries tells the story of a dog who is always thereabouts and rarely first. Just one open race to her name — a fifth here two weeks back — but her trial form whispers ability: she clocked 16.30 in a July trial, quick away and always leading, a genuinely fast time for this trip. One open run plus trials is nowhere near enough to trust, and dogs with little pack experience can run green when the traffic arrives. Fascinating dark horse, impossible to back with confidence, and drawn in a poor box to boot.
Second last time out and has two wins from eight course-and-distance runs, so he is competitive at the level, with all his recent form from honest D2 graded racing. Drawn in trap 4, statistically the best box at this grade at 22.9%. His times sit just behind the leading trio and he tends to be running on late rather than leading, which limits him over a trip this sharp. Frame claims from the right draw.
