The clear pick on just about every measure you could wish for. Won here over course and distance just six days ago, leading all the way in a sharp 28.80 adjusted, and that came after an identical front-running victory over the same trip in April. His sectional of 3.79 last time was the quickest in the field by some distance, and from trap 1 he can ping the lids, grab the rail, and be three lengths clear before anyone else has found their stride. The only blot is a troubled fifth in OR1 company on May 9th when he was crowded at multiple bends, but back in OR2 from the red box, the draw is ideal and the pace map points strongly his way. Has trialled impressively too, clocking 28.71 in a Towcester spin, confirming his well-being.
Proven at this venue with the pace to sit handy from trap 2, best placed to capitalise if the selection encounters any trouble.
Bags of ability but venue inexperience, closing style, and a long absence all count against him at a track where the bend decides everything.
Decent trial form but raceday consistency is lacking, and her closing style works against the track's first-bend bias.
Course knowledge is her asset but the pace and draw are both against her, and recent form suggests this grade is stretching her limits.
Slowest on the clock, worst draw in the race, and no venue experience make this a very tough assignment on his Towcester debut.
In OR grade at Towcester 500m, first-bend position is the dominant factor. Bend rank 1 wins at 34.5%, massively outperforming other metrics. Inside traps (T1/T2) combine for over 42% of wins. Dogs who can break and hold position into the first turn have a huge structural advantage.
