Jeopardy Andy gets the Pred1 nod here as the predicted winner, and there's a reasonable case for it. He's an All-Rounder (EP 52, CS 37, pace consistency 82) who should sit handy behind the early pace without committing too hard too early. His form trajectory shows he can win races — P75 and P72 when winning at A4/A5 level, suggesting he has the class for A3. The concern is his last run: P56 when 4th in A3, which was a step backwards. But he'd previously won three in a row (A4, A5, A5) showing genuine improvement. Trainer P W Young at 24% is a strong-tier handler. Track suit 45 and trap suit 47 are decent. Speed 42 is the lowest in the field, which is a worry — he may lack the raw pace to get involved from T2 if the first bend is competitive. His All-Rounder profile means he can adapt, but at Romford's tight 400m, he needs a clean run through bend 1 to stay in contention.
DANGER: Best Closer on the rail. If the Faders weaken (which is likely at 400m), she's ideally placed to pick up the pieces. Consistent A2/A3 performer with proven closing speed.
Interesting Closer with top track suitability (65) but zero early pace at a tight track. Will be closing late again. Place chance at best — needs total pace collapse to win from last at bend 1.
Exciting early pace from A2 class, but confirmed Fader (CS 35) at Romford 400m is the classic trap the skill warns about. Will lead and likely weaken. Might place but hard to win from the front with that closing speed.
Class dropper with best class suitability (61) but recent form (three 5ths) is discouraging. Closer from T5 on a tight track needs things to open up. Capable on his day but not convincing right now.
Class dropper from A1/A2 with structural T6 advantage (21.1%) but Fader profile at 400m and competition for the lead from T4 make this tough. Could place if he gets the rail early but likely to weaken.
LOW SEPARATION — R1 wins just 18.6% vs R3 at 16.3%, a gap of only 2.3pp. Ratings barely separate dogs at A3 grade here. Trap bias relatively flat with T3 and T6 marginally ahead. Race shape and pace profile should drive the analysis.
