Pearls Oscar has been in terrific form at Oxford, winning four of his last ten including a convincing success last time out in A6 grade. He's a Fader with explosive early pace who should ping the lids and look to make all on this tight circuit — exactly the running style Valley rewards. The first visit to the venue is a slight unknown, but the track suit of 15 matters far less than pace profile here. His bend rating of 64 is the best in the field, which is crucial at a track where the first bend decides so much, and the Fader profile is perfectly suited to 460 metres where there's less time for the fade to bite.
Best recent form in the field and the right pace profile — the clear danger if he handles the Valley bends.
Best Valley form and best draw, but wrong pace profile for a tight track — needs the race to fall apart.
Knows the track well but wrong pace profile and worst draw — needs significant trouble ahead to feature.
Right pace profile but drawn widest of the Faders — likely to be third wheel in the early pace battle.
Has the highest ceiling in the race but wrong pace profile and poor trap suitability — the class is there but the conditions aren't.
Intertrack trial with Oxford dogs visiting Valley. T1 and T6 structurally dominant at 460m, but with all-Oxford Faders filling traps 2, 3, and 5, the early pace battle will be fierce. Closers face the classic Valley problem — tight bends offer no passing lanes.
