Spot The Loony brings solid recent form from handicap company, putting up three consecutive efforts in the low-to-mid 60s before stepping back into graded racing tonight. He's an honest All-Rounder who runs his race without needing things to fall right, and his speed figure is joint-best in the race. The middle draw in trap 4 is neither a help nor a hindrance structurally, but it should give him a clean passage through the first bend if the two Faders either side of him go forward early. Trainer John Llewellin knows this dog well and places him shrewdly. Should be there or thereabouts.
The most consistent dog in the race with the best last run — the rail draw is a structural negative but her class keeps her in the mix.
Will be prominent early from a good draw but the confirmed Fader profile makes her vulnerable in the closing stages.
Highest raw ability in the field but dangerously inconsistent — capable of winning but equally capable of trailing in.
Best trap draw but poorest current form — the structural advantage can only carry a dog so far when ability is lacking.
Returning from a break in good form but the widest draw at these conditions is a significant structural headwind.
Low separation race — composite rank 1 at 21.1% vs rank 3 at 16.8% (4.3pp gap). Speed rank 1 is the stronger signal at 23.9%. Trap 5 and trap 3 structurally favoured. Six very closely matched dogs on composite (48-53 range).
