The fastest dog in the race on the clock and the classiest on average form — a combination that's hard to beat at Romford where speed matters. Won well at A6 last time and steps up tonight with plenty in hand based on his figures. A strong Closer with the best finishing speed in the field, and drawn in trap 4 which at A5 grade is the best box winning over 21% of the time. His peak of 74 six runs back shows there's top-class ability in there, and the trainer P W Young also sends Yahoo Jimmy in this race — but this is clearly the one they fancy from the better draw. The only question is whether his modest early pace sees him too far back early on, but on a tight track the leaders usually come back and his finishing kick should do the rest.
Top-rated with the right pace profile but keeps finishing fourth at A5 — the main danger.
Class drop and proven at A5 but lacks the speed to dominate this field.
Sharpest away by far but the fade through the final bends is too predictable to trust.
Worst draw and slowest on the clock — too many negatives despite the balanced running style.
T4 best at A5 — reversal from all-grades T1 dominance. Composite gap in this race is tiny (49-48-47). Speed R1 is the stronger signal at middle grades on tight tracks.
