The highest average performance in the race at 55, the joint-highest speed rating at 54, and the best class suitability at 59 — the numbers all point to Forever Tender as the classiest dog in this field. Her last two runs at A5 tell a compelling story: a neck second last time, leading from bend three to the run-in before being caught on the line, and a neck third the time before, leading to bend two. She's been competing at a grade above these rivals and running them close, which on the face of it makes A6 a significant drop. The all-rounder profile at 50 EP means she breaks well enough to be involved early, and the 54 bend rating equals the best in the field. Rees at 24% is reliable. The elephant in the room is the trap five draw — it converts at just 12.8% in A6, the worst position on the card by some distance. That's a massive structural penalty for any dog, and while her A5 form gives her a class edge, she's fighting the draw from the moment the traps open. There's also a missing run time in her third-last race, which creates a gap in the assessment. On pure ability she should win this, but the draw could undo her.
Will be prominent from the rail but has been caught late in both recent starts — the likely danger.
Improving dog from the right draw but the closing style may not suit Hove's speed-first A6 profile.
Best draw and best trainer but the form has gone the wrong way — needs the class drop to spark a revival.
Talented closer in the wrong race shape — needs interference ahead to have any chance.
Pace presence from the outside but lacks the raw speed to convert — more likely a supporting actor.
A6 at Hove is a speed-first proposition more than any other grade. The 26.1% SpeedR1 conversion means the fastest dog carries an enormous edge — but T5 at 12.8% is a severe structural penalty.
T1 21.9%, T3 23.1% dominate. T5 underperforms badly at 12.8%
