The class act of the card by some distance. Knockduff Don won twice at A1 level back in November, including a devastating victory in 27.57 seconds where he drew clear of the field — the kind of time that marks him out as genuinely talented. He's been off the track since then, returning via two trial outings to sharpen his fitness before tonight's comeback in graded competition. The shrewd drop to A2 from A1 gives him every chance of winning on his return — if he's anywhere near his best he should be too good for these. The Thom kennel wouldn't bring him back at this level unless they believed he was ready, and a trainer running at 24% knows how to place them. The only question is fitness after the layoff, but the trials suggest he's had time to get his legs back.
Three consecutive A2 seconds tell you he belongs at this level — a first-bend issue away from winning and the main danger.
Brilliant when right, and drawn in the strongest structural position — but the class step up and erratic form add risk.
Only one recent graded run makes the form hard to assess — he could improve but is impossible to trust with confidence.
Improving form and competitive at this grade, but the wide draw and running style count against him with quality opposition inside.
Strong separation at A2 level (R1 23.72% vs R3 15.09% = 8.6pp) means ratings carry weight. Traps 3 and 4 are the dominant boxes, and with T6 vacant the middle-to-outside runners should get a cleaner passage. A quality race where form can be taken at face value.
