A highly speculative pick based on extraordinary raw pace numbers from a very small sample. Won both her career starts at Open Race grade over 491 metres in January and February, scoring performance ratings of 91 and 90 respectively — those are exceptional figures, well above anything else in this field. Her speed rating of 65 is the fastest in the field by 12 points and her early pace figures suggest a front-runner who will take the field along strongly from the break. The caveats are significant and should not be understated: she has been absent for five months, has never raced at Hove, has never raced over 500 metres, and is drawn in trap 5 which is the worst structural box at this course and distance producing just 16 per cent of winners. Two career runs is too small a sample to treat her performance averages as settled ability. She is selected on the strength of those two remarkable Open Race wins, with the honest acknowledgement that this is a highly uncertain case.
Unbeaten in two recent starts at A5 and A7 with a 50 per cent course and distance win rate — rapid improvement makes him the key danger stepping up to A4.
Best structural trap and decent course and distance record, but recent form is volatile — needs to reproduce the 67 not the 41.
Second-best speed but in the worst structural trap with no course and distance wins from ten starts — draw is a genuine impediment.
Most recently proven A4 winner in the field with consistent form at this grade — the strongest case among the established runners.
Best structural trap but only one run here scoring 44 for last, plus the lowest speed rating in the field — no basis for confidence.
Trap 6 best at 23.9% and trap 1 close at 23.08% from 1,440 runs at Hove 500m A4. Trap 5 the worst structural draw at 16.0%. Speed rank 1 wins 24.19% — slightly stronger than composite rank 1 at this middle grade.
