A decent day for the model yesterday. Across 143 races, the top-rated selection won 39 times, a strike rate of 27.3%, and was placed in 79 of those races on top of that. That's comfortably above the kind of return you'd expect from picking blind, and a fair showing for a single selection across a full day's racing.
Widen it out to any of the top three rated dogs in each race and the numbers look stronger still: ninety-nine of the 143 races were won by one of the top three picks, a 69.2% hit rate, with 131 races seeing a top-three pick finish in the frame. When the model's shortlist is landing the winner on roughly seven out of every ten races, that's a genuinely useful signal rather than noise.
No single day tells the whole story on its own, and there'll be tougher afternoons ahead where the upsets outnumber the confirmations. But a day like yesterday, where the top picks were doing real work across a busy 143-race card, is the kind of consistency worth building on.
