The brighter picture comes when you widen the lens. Across the top three picks, 86 of 143 races produced at least one winner (60.1%), and 132 of 143 had a top-three pick in the places (92.3%). That's strong, and it tells a familiar story: the models are finding the right dogs, they're just not always nailing which of those dogs finishes first.
The second pick actually outscored the first pick on winners, finding 39 compared to 29. That's an unusual inversion and suggests the composite ranking slightly misordered a number of fields yesterday. It happens. Greyhound racing has enough bumping, crowding, and trap bias to scramble any form model on a given night. The important thing is that the top-three cluster kept finding the frame at over 90%. Over a large enough sample, that's where betting systems find their edge.
