When a trainer's three-month win rate sits at 38.9%, there's usually a very good reason. S R Parker has sent out 54 runners since early March and come back with 21 winners. Add in 9 places and the combined win-and-place rate reaches 55.6%. That means more than half of Parker's runners are finishing in the first two. It's a remarkable stretch of form by any measure.
Those are not flattered numbers, either. Twenty-one winners from 54 runners across multiple tracks and grades suggests a kennel operating at a consistently high level rather than landing a few lucky results. The kind of strike rate that trainers dream about and punters should pay attention to.
Today, Parker sends two runners to Towcester for the 15:13 OR2 over 500 metres. Annadown Shadow lines up in trap 5 and Keefill Sequoia goes from trap 6. Wide draws at Towcester are not ideal, particularly at OR2 level where the inside bias is pronounced, but a trainer in this kind of form often finds a way to overcome structural disadvantages. The dogs are clearly good enough to compete at this grade, and a trainer converting at nearly two in five is worth following even when the draw says otherwise.
