RTD Rankings

Every active greyhound in the UK and Ireland gets an RTD Rating — a single number that tells you how good a dog is, right now. Think of it like a credit score, but for greyhounds. The higher the number, the better the dog.

The rating is built from four things that actually matter when a dog steps into the traps:

• 40%Performance — how well the dog runs relative to the field. Pace, positioning, beaten distances.
• 30%Speed — raw times adjusted for track and conditions. A fast dog at Monmore isn't the same as a fast dog at Towcester.
• 20%Consistency — dogs that show up every week and deliver. One big win doesn't make a ranking; doing it again and again does.
• 10%Form trajectory — is the dog improving or declining? A dog on the way up gets credit; one that's tailing off gets docked.

Ratings update after every race — not just once a week or once a month. When a dog wins at Central Park on a Friday night, their rating reflects it by Saturday morning.

Rating Bands

Every dog falls into a band based on their rating. The top tier — Elite — is reserved for the very best in training. Below that you've got Superior, Above Average, Average, Below Average and Novice for dogs still building their record.

Why does this matter?

Grades tell you what class a dog races in, but they don't tell you how good a dog actually is compared to the wider population. An A1 dog at Hove is racing in a completely different context to an A1 dog at Kinsley. The RTD Rating cuts through all of that and gives you a single, comparable number across every track, every grade, every distance.
